Mini Granny Squares by Lydia J.

Mini Granny Squares

-Lydia J.

On average, it takes
60-90 minutes to crochet
a GRANNY SQUARE

(This post might seem like a repeat for those who have read: Step-by-Step GRANNY SQUARES 2015

 A word to the wise:
GS are made by counting basic crochet stitches!

Start out with (5) five basic stitches. Connect loop.

Next make (4) four basic stitches.
Connect through the center of your circle.

Repeat your (4) four stitches through
the center of the circle, (3) three more times:

a total of (4) four loops.

This will create your square.

Double knot new color.
Leave extra length of yarn to weave in later;
if you cut it too short, your project will
unravel if the knot wears out.

In each corner, crochet (4) four blue/green
basic stitches, connecting (4) four times.

Because I am making this project with bulky yarn,
I used (2) two threads of standard thickness:  blue and green.

This created a fabulous lilly-pad effect! :)

For the second blue/green layer,
crochet (2) two stitches, and connect in each loop.

For the blue piping of medium bulky yarn
(my own term for the trim),
use (2) two blue stitches in each loop around the square.

I am attempting to make a blanket with a very
large granny square as the center.
Create as many GS as desired for the size you would like.

Squares must be stitched together
with a plastic needled, sold at any local craft store.
I personally use the fabric isle at WALMART. :)

WARNING: STITCHING YOUR GS TOGETHER IS HARD!

I have always found this step difficult. :P
Tight stitches will make your Square small.
Looser stitches make your GS bigger!

Just do your BEST and don't sweat it!

 Thanks for dropping by!
