Step-by-Step GRANNY SQUARES 2015

Step-by-Step
GRANNY SQUARES

-Lydia J.

(I am using bulky yarn for this project).

Start out with (5) five basic stitches. Connect loop.

Next make (4) four basic stitches.
Connect through the center of your circle.

Repeat your (4) four stitches, (3) three more times.
This will create your square.

In each corner, crochet (4) four basic stitches,
connecting (4) four times.

Double knot new color.
Leave extra length of yarn to weave in later;
if you cut it too short, your project will
unravel if the knot wears out.

 This step is (2) two layers.
Because I'm using extra bulky yarn,
I used (1) one stitch to connect
the small loops on the first brown layer

(If you are crocheting with standard yarn, use (2) two stitches).

The second brown layer is (4) four stitches, creating nice big loops!

Next, use (4) four blue stitches in each loop
around the square, which at this point looks like a circle.

REPEAT this step with the blue/green.

Because I am making this project with bulky yarn,
I used (2) two threads of standard thickness;
in this case  blue and green, which creates a
fabulous lilly-pad effect!

After connecting the brown yarn,
use (1) one stitch for the bulky yarn.

Use (2) two stitches, if crocheting with standard yarn.

 By the time I was done with my granny square,
it measured about (1) one foot across.

Thanks for dropping by!
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial.
